Our History

Serving Northern Kentucky Since 1885

Kentucky Federal started business in 1885 with the intent to promote personal savings and home ownership in Northern Kentucky.

Kentucky Federal was originally chartered as Kentucky Perpetual Building and Loan. At that time we were open just one evening each week. Our office was located on the second floor of a local hat store, “Toby the Hatter”. While unusual by today’s standards, in the 1800’s, it was very normal for a bank to operate out of a retail store, restaurant or even the back room of a bar.

Kentucky Perpetual Building and Loan became a federally chartered financial institution in 1937 changing to our present name Kentucky Federal Savings and Loan Association. The building that houses our Main Office in Covington was built in 1958. An addition was added to the Covington office in 1975. Kentucky Federal built our Florence office in 1971 and added our Williamstown office in 1976. Our Williamstown Office was previously used as a furniture store.

Kentucky Federal remains true to our roots as a Northern Kentucky institution with well over 100 years’ experience providing the highest return on savings and the lowest loan rates possible.
